Rihanna: Career, Family, Private Life, Net Worth And More

Rihanna is on the rise. She was named the richest singer in the world by the American magazine “Forbes” last week and has successfully combined her career as an artist and entrepreneur. Asked Monday, June 10 by actress Sarah Paulson in the columns of the magazine “Interview”, the Barbadian star made confidences about her professional and private life.

According to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), Rihanna is the artist who has the largest number of certifications of singles. She is also the first artist in the world to cross the 100 million digital sales milestone in the United States.

Rihanna has a total of eight studio albums and two remix albums. Her first album, Music of the Sun (2005), is dancehall, reggae and pop oriented, and her second album, A Girl like Me (2006), is more influenced by RnB.

Childhood

Robyn Rihanna Fenty was born on February 20, 1988, in Saint Michael, a parish in Barbados. Both her parents are of Afro-Caribbean descent: Monica Braithwaite, her mother, is a former Afro- Guyanese accountant, and her father Ronald Fenty, a former warehouse keeper who became a shop owner, is of Barbadian and Irish descent. Rihanna has two brothers, Rorrey and Rajad Fenty, and two half-sisters and a half-brother on her father’s side, each born to different mothers, from her previous relationships.

Growing up in a three bedroom bungalow in Bridgetown, and selling clothes with her father on a market stall, Rihanna’s childhood is deeply marked by her father’s addiction to cocaine, alcohol, and marijuana, and her parents’ divorce while she is 14 years old. Rihanna has had multiple CT scans for her unbearable headaches. Doctors have even thought it was a tumor, because it was intense.

Rihanna grew up listening to reggae music, and began singing around the age of seven. She attended Charles F. Broome Memorial Primary School, then Combermere School high school, where she formed a musical group with two classmates. Rihanna is an army cadet in a military sub-program, singer-songwriter Shontelle was her sergeant. Although she initially wanted to graduate from high school, Rihanna chose to drop out of school and pursue a career in music.

Family and Education

Rihanna’s father used to beat her mother and she tried to come between them to separate the fights. As a child, Rihanna underwent numerous CT checks for the painful cerebral pains she was enduring: “The specialists even thought that it was a tumor because it was so exceptional.” At the age of 14, her parents separated and her well-being began to improve. She grew up listening to reggae music.

She attended Charles F. Broome Memorial Primary School and Combermere High School, where she closely examined future world cricketers Chris Jordan and Carlos Brathwaite. Rihanna was a military cadet in a sub-military program, where future artist-musician Shontelle was her recruit instructor. Although she needed to move on after high school first, she decided to seek a career in music.

Carrier start

In 2003, Rihanna framed a melodic trio with two of her sidekicks. She is found in her home nation, Barbados, by American record store Evan Rogers. Without name or material, the young woman found a way to get an essay with Rogers who remarked: “When Rihanna entered the room, it looked like the other two young women didn’t exist. Rihanna visited Rogers’ home, where she performed interpretations of Destiny’s Child’s “Feeling” and Mariah Carey’s “Legend.”

Intrigued, Rogers planned a second rally attended by Rihanna’s mother and then welcomed Rihanna to her old neighborhood in the United States to record a few demo tapes that could be sent to record brands. The chronicles were spotty, taking about a year since she was just ready to record during school occasions. “Pon de Replay” and “The Last Time” were two tracks recorded for the demo tape, which were long-term shortlisted for their Music of the Sun presentation collection. That same year, Rihanna was marked at the Rogers and Carl Sturken creative organization, Syndicated Rhythm Productions.

Good Girl Gone Bad

For her third album, Rihanna abandons reggae and dancehall to focus on pop, RnB, dance and pop rock. Meanwhile, her outfits scenes become increasingly challenging, not hesitating to flirt with fetishism ( shorts and body in vinyl, plait leather or latex ). Good Girl Gone Bad comes out injune 2007, carried by Umbrella which is hugely successful across the world (8 million records) and which remains first on the Billboard Hot 100 for 7 consecutive weeks.

Then follow Shut Up and Drive (2.1 million), Don’t Stop The Music which dominates the charts of many countries(7 million), and Hate That I Love You with Ne-Yo (3.5 million). On November 2008, Rehab is released as a single (1.7 million) with Justin Timberlake in the backing vocals (songwriter, he appears in the clip). This is the eighth and final single from the album Good Girl Gone Bad, which is now the second best selling album of 2008 in the United States, with over 8.5 million sold.

Rated R

The recording of Rated R originates from dark episodes in the singer’s private life (notably her assault by Chris Brown), which explains the harsher, dark but mature, artistic and personal universe of the album as well. than a new image of Rihanna. Following the singer’s run-in with Brown and naked photos of her appearing on the internet, Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour refuses Rihanna to pose on the cover of the famous magazine.

However, the singer will cover the edition of Vogue in September 2009, with shots taken by Steven Klein where Rihanna embodies a sort of Grace Jones in ultra-structured looks inspired by the 1980s. The singer made her return to the music industry alongside Jay-Z and Kanye West on the track Run This Town, released July 24, 2009. The track ranked second on the Billboard Hot 100, and won a Grammy Award for the best rap collaboration. Rated R is released on November 23, 2009 in Europe.

Talk That Talk

Talk That Talk, Rihanna’s sixth album, was released on November 21, 2011. The album could be described as a compendium of her last two albums, Rated R (2009) and Loud (2010) alternating between electro, pop or R&B. There are two collaborations on this record, Calvin Harris on We Found Love and Jay-Z on the track Talk That Talk. On September 22, 2011, with the track Cheers (Drink to That) barely released as the sixth single from the album Loud, Rihanna released We Found Love, the debut single from Talk That Talk. This title, resolutely Electro, is produced by Calvin Harris, who notably worked with Kylie Minogue.
